HOW DOES SOLAR WORK?
Solar is often referred to as PV or “photovoltaic.” A solar PV system is a power-generating system that includes panels, inverters, cabling, a meter, and several other components. A solar (PV) system converts sunlight into electricity. Your solar systems power can be used to power your home, business, or even an electric vehicle. Once the panels are wire together to form a single array, the electricity flows to inverters which convert it from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). This AC is the electricity that is used to run appliances, TVs, computers, etc.
HOW LONG DOES SOLAR EQUIPMENT LAST?
Solar — as a technology has been around for 50 years. Many of the very first solar technologies from 50 years ago are still in operation today. Solar technology is extremely reliable and panels are developed to produce at least 80% of their initial power over 25 years. Our solar panels and inverters carry a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty. These 25-year warranties demonstrate the value that we place on quality products and materials.
WHAT SOLAR PANELS & INVERTERS DO YOU OFFER?
Our dedicated installation professionals will select the proper components specifically tailored for your performance needs. These components will minimize electrical loss during transmission, optimize inverter loads and wire runs, and take advantage of design efficiencies. Over the course of many installations, our professional relationships now include a wide variety of manufacturers of panels, inverters, and mounting systems. You’ll receive the best equipment for your needs as a result of our install teams’ extensive supply chain research and relationships with manufacturers.
IS IT DIFFICULT TO SWITCH TO SOLAR?
With over 103,000+ panels installed by our teams over the past few decades, we will ensure that you experience maximum performance, an easy system-to-grid interconnection, and streamlined Permission to Operate (PTO). From beginning to end, our teams will handle the entire process — permit, design, procurement, and installation.
HOW DO I DETERMINE IF SOLAR MAKES SENSE FINANCIALLY?
Our on-site evaluation will detail all of the financial solutions that solar provides to you, your family, or your business. Our team makes the savings simple to understand. We have a wide variety of financing options available to meet the needs of a wide variety of homeowners.
WHEN DO I SEE MY FEDERAL TAX CREDIT?
The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for solar electric systems is now 26 percent of the cost for both residential and commercial solar installations. Once you file your tax returns, you will receive your credit from the IRS. The 26% federal tax credit ends December 31st, so now is the time to take advantage of this soon-to-expire tax incentive.
WHAT SYSTEM WILL I NEED?
Our team will provide an in-depth, consultative approach, and critically examine what energy efficiency needs you may have. We’ll take every important factor into account and provide an accurate custom proposal to help you decide the best possible solution.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A SOLAR SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING?
For a typical residential installation, it generally requires one (1) day. The length of the project time depends on the complexity of the property and the size of the system. For commercial installations, the typical agricultural and small commercial installation will take roughly 1-3 weeks from the day we begin the installation.
WHAT PERMITS ARE NEEDED?
As part of our service to you, we will obtain all building permits and design your system to meet required building codes. We will arrange for the electrical, building and utility inspections. Our project manager will be on-site to make sure that everything meets all government expectations. Our goal is to take care of your project every step of the way.
WHAT IF MY ROOF IS OLDER AND NEEDS REPAIRS?
In order to install a solar system, your roof must be in good condition. While our Energy Specialist is out at your property prior to the installation, he or she will check to make sure that your roof is structurally sound for a solar installation. If a roof is in need of repair or replacement, we will provide the services of one of our trusted roofing partners. Once the solar panels are installed, the panels themselves will actually help to protect your roof from the elements.
SHOULD I NOTIFY MY HOMEOWNER’S INSURANCE IF I GO SOLAR?
We recommend that you contact your insurance carrier prior to installation to determine if your yearly premium will change. Typically, a homeowner will see very little change on their premium from the installation of a solar electric system, We encourage you to contact your insurance company about the solar system as the installation process is underway. In addition, we recommend that even though solar systems come with a long term manufacturer and workmanship warranty, your homeowners or liability insurance should cover the cost of any unexpected accidents, or weather related issues.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT’S DARK OR CLOUDY?
While solar panels produce their best energy when exposed to direct sunlight, the panels will produce slightly less energy on a cloudy day. When it is dark, your system does not produce any energy. However, the good news is that — as we design the system — we will take into consideration the average hours of direct sunlight to allow for the cloudy, rainy, and dark periods of the year. In addition, your solar system will be connected to the grid so power can be drawn from the grid whenever needed. As we connect you to the grid, power disruptions are not likely to occur; the connection happens seamlessly and effortlessly.
IS THERE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED?
Our installation teams will continue to view your system’s performance after the system is installed. The live performance data allows our skilled teams to diagnose and address issues quickly. Our goal is to minimize any potential downtime so that you can focus on your core business. We ensure that your system performs flawlessly over the course of its operational life.
